September, 2007 - Hard to believe this site hasn't been updated since December last year. That isn't due to inactivity - quite the contrary actually. Steve has been very busy on Broadway playing in Jersey Boys as well as with his writing and recording projects.

You can keep track of Steve's gig schedule at his MySpace page. Also Steve is going to start his MySpace blog very soon so make sure you sign up for that to really get up to date information.

 
December, 2006 - Jersey Boys Original Broadway Cast Recording has been nominated for a Grammy award. For a full list of the nominees visit www.grammy.com

This has been a very busy year for Steve and as usual the promised new solo CD has been delayed again due to writing commitments (and Jersey Boys of course). We may be looking at March or April before the disc comes out however it does look as though Steve will be releasing 2 solo discs this year!!.

June 12th, 2006 - JERSEY BOYS takes home 4 Tony Awards inc. 'Best Musical'.
Oh, What a Night!! As well as Best Musical, John Lloyd Young won 'Best Leading Actor in a Musical' for his portrayal of Frankie Valli, Christian Hoff won 'Best Featured Actor in a Musical' for his portrayal of Tommy DeVito and Howell Binkley won 'Best Lighting Design of a Musical'.
 
June 6th, 2006 - The 60th Annual Tony Awards will be broadcast in a live 3 hour ceremony from Radio City Music Hall on CBS, Sunday 11th June at 8pm. Check your local listings. Steve will appear playing drums during the JERSEY BOYS musical segment.

Rehearsals are going well for Theresa Sareo's CD release event on June 22nd at The Bitter End in NYC. See the live gigs page for more info.

 
May 22nd, 2006 - The 51st Drama Desk Awards well held in NY last night and JERSEY BOYS took home 2 awards - Steve Canyon Kennedy (Outstanding Sound Design) and John Lloyd Young (Outstanding Actor in a Musical) - Congratulations to both. The show was televised and will air on WNET CH13 on 30th May at 3pm and on CH25 on 30th May and 1st June at 1pm. Steve appears on guitar in the Jersey Boys music segment during the show.
 
May 18th, 2006 - JERSEY BOYS has received 8 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical.
The show has already won a Drama League Award and 3 Outer Critics Circle Awards inc. Best Musical. John Lloyd Young, already the recipient of many awards for his portrayal of 'Frankie Valli' and now a Tony Award Nominee has a great website and blog at www.johnlloydyoung.com - well worth a visit.
 
March 2006 - Theresa Sareo was voted #1 in the New Century's First Annual People's Choice Awards for Best Adult Contemporary Song with her remake of Bread's "It Don't Matter To Me". The track which features Steve on guitars will appear on her soon to be released CD.
 
January 2006 - Steve has just joined the cast of the hit Broadway musical 'JERSEY BOYS'. The show, based on the lives and music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons is playing at the The August Wilson Theatre in New York City.

November 11, 2005 - New scores have been added to the Music Store. You can now view and even listen to the scores using the amazing free Scorch plug-in available from www.sibelius.com (or click the link on the page. Most of the pieces are for solo classical or acoustic guitar and are available to buy at $3.50 each.
 
November, 2005 - Some new photos have been added to the gig photo page. They were taken by top photographer Kent Kallberg who was attending one of Steve's recitals back in April.

If you happened to catch the '80th Anniversary Grand Old Opry' show on the SAH channel at the end of October, the theme music called 'Hoosegow Stomp' was written by Steve.

The Metropolitan Guitar Trio will be playing on Saturday 3rd December in NJ (see live gig page for details). On the programme will be a few favourites from the Trio some of Steve's latest arrangements of music by Granados and Praetorius. Also being premiered will be Steve's new piece 'Manciniana' - a fantasy based on themes by Henry Mancini.
 
August, 2005 - Steve will be in France in August playing a number of concerts featuring new music from his forthcoming CD 'Intimate'. Also, Steve will be joined by Django style guitarist Yann Beaujouan for some concerts featuring their unique blend of Jazz and Celtic improvisation. Their appearances together have been receiving huge critical acclaim.
 
July 1, 2005 - FREE MUSIC!! The sheet music (in notation & tab) and mp3 to Steve's solo guitar piece Sean's Lullaby has been put in the Music Store. Other scores will be available to purchase very soon.  
 
June 30, 2005 - mp3 excerpts of some new tracks from Steve's forthcoming CD can be heard on the Recordings page. Also added to the recordings page are some new mp3's from UB Hank 5.

June, 2005 - It has been a while since this site was updated last but Steve has been hard at work on several new recording projects. This week he will be in the studio adding guitar tracks to Theresa Sareo's forthcoming CD. Currently Steve is working on two of his own projects - an all solo acoustic CD entitled 'Intimate' and a smooth jazz CD both of which should be available by the end of 2005. Keep watching this space. A few new pics have been added to the Photo page.
 
February, 2005 - Steve's latest composition Rant - Scottish Suite No.1 for Classical Guitar Trio has been completed.  Score and parts are available.  It is a five movement, 21-minute suite with traditional Scottish and Celtic influences.  It will receive its world premiere in 2006.  More details to follow!
 
October 4-18 - Steve returns to France to perform more with Anna and friends, as well as perform a solo recital at which he will premier many new compositions.
 
August, 2004 - Steve heads to the Loire Valley in France to play with Anna Tanvir and Blue Maize.  Steve met Anna at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and has recently reconnected with her. 
May 15, 2004 - SibeliusMusic.com hosts several of Steve's compositions and arrangements, and they are available for download.  The files are available in standard notation, and TAB versions are on their way.  You will need "Scorch" to listen to and print the files.  
April, 2004 - ZigZag, Steve's 2002 CD is now available for download from iTunes!  Go to www.apple.com to download the software for free for PC or Mac.  Then you can download your favorite tracks for just $0.99 each, or get the whole album for $9.99.
March 30, 2004 - The American Music Company website is now up, running and open for business.  Link to the site, go to "MUSIC SEARCH", use the drop down menu under "Search by Composer", and select Steve's name.  Now you will be able to scroll through and listen to samples of his 40+ tracks.  There is also information on how to license Steve's music for media production.
March 4, 2004 - The new musical The Shags is presented in a private reading at Manhattan Theatre ClubThe Shags, which enjoyed a successful run in LA, is currently being shopped in New York City.  Steve will play guitar for the reading.
February, 2004 - Steve finishes a fifth CD for American Music Company.  To date, Steve has written and recorded over 40 tracks for AMC in a variety of styles, including jazz, country/bluegrass, and "drama/suspense."
January, 2004 - Seton Hall University hires Steve as Adjunct Professor of Guitar.  
September, 2003 - Steve is playing a few gigs in NYC in September - at the Supper Club and accompanying Sarah, Plain and Tall at the National Alliance for Musical Theatre.  Hit the gigs page for details.
August 15, 2003 - The site gets a makeover!
July, 2003 - Sarah, Plain and Tall, the new musical will be work-shopped into a full length show at the Eugene O'Neill Center in Connecticut.  It will also be showcased at the National Alliance for Musical Theatre in September in New York City.  Steve's skills are featured on the musical's soundtrack.
June, 2003 - Steve's private student roster continues to grow.  One of his students will participate in the 2003 Eastman School of Music Summer Guitar Program.
May, 2003 - NEW INFORMATION!  While studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Steve and fellow guitarist Daniel Thomas arranged and gave the first performance on two guitars of Memorias de "El Cimarrķn" by Hans Werner Henze.  The composer was so pleased with the arrangement that he had it published by SCHOTT & CO.  The arrangement has since been recorded by Elena Cāsoli and Jürgen Ruck. 
April 28, 2003 - Steve and his colleagues at the County College of Morris perform in a recital of faculty and students.  Steve arranged Bach's  3  Part Inventions for 3 guitars which he and other guitar faculty performed.
April 18-19, 2003Steve (and his music) are featured in the premiere of a new play, The Art of the Stalker, by Jeffery Wood, directed by Emily Wells.  Details on the Gigs page.
April 7, 2003 - Steve signs a four CD contract with American Music Company (Long Island, NY) to write production music.  Each CD will consist of 15 tracks in specific genres.  Tracks from these CD's will be considered for use in commercials, TV shows or films.
April 1, 2003 - Steve is named one of Guitar 9 Records 'Undiscovered Artists' for April-May 2003.  Follow the link for a great review of ZigZag, and a write-up about Steve.
March 15, 2003 - Steve's guitar piece "Emily" from his CD ZigZag (2002 STEM Productions) has just been chosen as one of the top 5 winners in the Great American Song Contest 2002.  Steve will receive an "Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting" Award in the Instrumental Category. Congratulations, Steve!

December 6, 2002 - Check out the new format of the Tab Order Form.  It is now easier to order multiple tabs.  Custom tabs will now be ordered on a separate order form, which is coming soon.  Steve is also listed on 2 wedding-planning sites, www.topweddinglinks.com and www.webalert.com.

October 2, 2002 - Steve is appointed an Adjunct Faculty member at County College of Morris in New Jersey.  He will be teaching private lessons at the college.
September 12, 2002 - After rehearsing the latest UK/European tour of Buddy, Steve spent a few days in his native Scotland where he conducted a press tour to promote ZigZag.  His music will be featured on the Jason Rose - The Cat's Pajamas on Moray Firth Radio (Scotland - www.mfr.co.uk).  Residents outside of the UK can listen in on-line on Sunday, September 15th at 9pm GMT/4pm EST.  Please follow the link above for an article in the Highland News about Steve and ZigZag.  Reviews are forthcoming in 20th Century Guitar as well as several other magazines worldwide.
August 8, 2002 - Steve is now teaching through the Groove Academy Music Institute in New Jersey.  He leaves on August 9th to rehearse the latest UK/European tour of Buddy:The Buddy Holly Story.  Steve will not be touring with the show, but is serving in his capacity of Musical Supervisor.  While he is in the UK, Steve will appear at a Shadows workshop in Malvern on September 1, 2002.
July 15, 2002 - Steve's banjo and guitar playing is featured on the soundtrack of a new musical which opens today at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in Manhattan.  Sarah, Plain and Tall is based on the children's book of the same name and was written by composer Lawrence O'Keefe (Bat Boy), lyricist Nell Benjamin (3hree), and playwright Julia Jordan.

June 24, 2002 - IT'S HERE!  Steve's new CD ZigZag is in stock and ready for shipping.  For the moment, customers may place orders directly through the website.  Credit card and overseas customers should e-mail for payment instructions.  Continue to check back for new distributors as they are added!  Join the mailing list for the most current information.  ZigZag is selling for $14.99 US, with shipping and handling extra.  
June 18, 2002 - After returning from a few weeks on tour, Steve is back in the New York City area, performing and teaching private lessons.  Check out the Live Gigs page for dates and details.  Copies of ZigZag continue to be reserved by customers world-wide, including Singapore, the UK and the Caribbean!  After some unforeseen production difficulties, the CD will be available very soon!  Thanks to all those who have placed orders for your patience.  Steve is continuing to develop his on-line lessons, and hopes to have them up and running by the end of the summer.
